The Islander Estate Vineyards on Kangaroo Island has a reputation for creating wines which bring together classic French winemaking techniques with the unique characteristics of the Island’s natural environment and temperate maritime climate.
Established by Bordeaux winemaker Jacques Lurton in 2000 after falling in love with Island’s natural beauty and enormous viticultural potential, the winery has until now only been available to visitors via private appointment.
Now The Islander Estate Vineyards wines are within easy reach of visitors to Kangaroo Island with the launch of their new Tasting Room at Cygnet River, opening Thursday 21st September.
The Tasting Room comprises an intimate venue with the focus on personalised wine tasting experiences, surrounded by rural views and relaxed outdoor areas where a bottle from The Islander Estate Vineyards range and a simple regional cheese plate can be enjoyed on the lawns and decks.
A small fee for guided tastings is redeemable with any two-bottle purchase from the range.
The Tasting Room will join gourmet neighbours Kangaroo Island Spirits, Island Pure, and Frogs & Roses at Cygnet River. “This was the ideal location to establish our first tasting facility” said The Islander Estate Vineyards co-owner Yale Norris. “We’re accessible to the airport, the main township and surrounded some other fantastic artisan producers who each represent the authenticity and passion of our local food and wine culture.”
The Islander Estate Vineyards Tasting Room will welcome wine lovers Thursday to Tuesday (closed Wednesday) from 12 noon to 6pm, located at the corner of Gum Creek and Boxer Roads, Cygnet River, Kangaroo Island.
