Join Kangaroo Island Plantation Timbers for a closer look at forestry from inside the plantations and hear from foresters and engineers about this new industry for Kangaroo Island.

You can join the tour at any point. You will not need a 4WD.

Lunch and afternoon tea provided.

12noon Meet at the main gate of the MacGills property. 4944 Playford Highway, about 11km past Parndana. Allow 45 minutes travel from Kingscote.

See the Island’s largest bluegum property and enjoy a picnic lunch at Sheep Creek Dam. Learn about bluegums and their place in Kangaroo Island’s agricultural future.

2pm Yerda North Pine Plantation. Section 58 McBride’s Road, enter via Bark Hut Road or North Coast Road and look for the signs. Hear about the outlook for pinus radiata and its future on Kangaroo Island.

3.30pm Smith Bay. 1972 North Coast Road, Wisanger. Enter via Freeoak Road. See the site for the Kangaroo Island Seaport and enjoy afternoon tea at Smith Bay House. Discuss design details for the new seaport and materials handling facility.
